I knew I was making a mistake,no I didn't,I was in the process of cleaning my old LPs when it arrived,I just bunged it in the 'wash' with the others,I thought at the time I should have checked it first, but, acting on good information,I decided to clean it before playing in case there was any debrie from the pressing.

In the case of DSOTM I bought a second hand copy off the Bay and it played excellent straight out of the sleeve, only paid £14.02 inc P&P,just goes to show that you 'pays yer money and takes yer chances'.

I wondering now wether to use the Knosti on say 6 discs then empty it,fill it wiith distilled water and run them through again, then leave to dry.

Or (and I know I'm repeating myself) you could do what I do, and put the record with Knosti clamps in place into your drill, tighten properly, and then spin any residue off the record. It works for me.

Yes I agree. I ended up playing my 1973 original copy, and sold the new copy on a few months later.

Sounds like a good idea,so how do you stop the fast spinning record from flicking water all over the place,do you spin it over a bath or something?

Yes I do, but you can always spin outside.

I guess it depends on the tiling you have over the bath (ours goes to the ceiling), and to a greater extent, it depends on what your wife will let you do. :)

Do be very very careful though, if the record comes out of the drill, you could quite easily lose a limb.

Imagine trying to explain that away to friends and family... "you were doing what?"

It does concentrate the mind somewhat when you see just how fast it's spinning.

So really my best bet is to share the chores with the misses,I do the washing she does the drying.

I guess there's some kind of equality in that.

One final point. Do place the records on the drying rack for a couple of minutes after spinning to finish off the drying process.

How easy is it to remove it from the drill with one arm?

I just reverse the process of putting the record into the drill. So turn the chuck key a few times, then remove using one of the spindles of the label clamps, then untighten the label clamps from the record, then onto the rack for a final air dry off.
