How do you change your avatar?

I can not seem to change my current avatar to another one. Any ideas to why it is not changing?

It takes a bit of time for the site's server to refresh and update it. If it doesn't happen over the next day or so, email your pic to the moderators and they will upload it for you.

Go to 'My account'.

Edit.

Tick box to 'delete picture'..

Save.

Only then use 'browse' to select a new one.

Save again.

Wait for a while. (probably not a long wait in your case as you haven't been here very long, but for us old-timers it can be days.)

Change it as chebby instructs above. Then leave it. It could take days (the perils of long expiry times on a CDN to which I have no access) so don't be tempted to try it again.

How come my ataver has changed on my account page but not when I reply to posts or start new ones?

Can I be Mr Pedant and correct you (I've resisted this long). It's 'Avatar', as in the film.

But to be more courteous, when I changed mine it took ages before it refreshed properly so that old posts and new posts showed the same picture.

I guess you could delete it and try again though?
