Hi,

I was on here about a year ago looking for speakers, but since then have moved, so never got round to it.

Now I'm settled, I'm thinking about getting some new speakers for my Sonos.

I have the Sonos, an MF X-150 amp, and some speaker stands, and some old, worthless speakers.

Should I:

A - sell the amp (for hopefully about £400), and buy some AVI ADM9.1 for use on the stands? Total cost about £700.

B - Buy some reduced Tannoy DC4T floorstanders? Total cost £500.

C - Something else entirely.

I'm currently liking option B, because it's cheaper. 😉

My main buying factors are:

Price. (I have my X-150 on constantly, though, so the Sonos can use it - so how much electricity will I save with the AVIs digital amp?)

The speakers have to sound best at low or medium volumes. (And high too, on occasion!)

The speakers will be up against a back wall.

They have to be able to handle all types of music.

The speakers have to look nice and discreet.

Thanks in advance!

Or, if the Tannoy's are a good deal at £500, is there an alternative amp than the MF X-150 that would suit them better and cost less than £400? Then I could sell it, save money AND have a better sounding system.

Personally I'd try the Tannoys with the MF - I had an X-80 driving Revolutions a few years ago and it sounded absolutely brilliant. If that leaves you some money to go buy some more music (or beer), result.

Thanks for the reply.

My main problem is I am unable to demo either of the setups, so I'm relying on people's recommendations!

Can anyone point me to any reviews of either product?
