I have just ordered, rightly or wrongly, the following equipment - Panny 50PZ80 plasma, Sony STRDG820 Receiver, Jamo A102 speakers, Panny BD35 Blu Ray and some upgraded speaker cable. I also have a PS2 which I may want to use occasionally. In order to make the most of each different component could someone explain the best way to set this all up. Specifically, I am unsure which kit should go straight to the TV and which should go via the receiver, in order to get the best upscaling/sound/etc. I have one HDMI cable ordered(!) and presume I need a few more and maybe some other cables (for components and subwoofer??). Also, when sorting the speaker cable I have heard the rear two speakers should have the same length cable as each other and the front three speakers should have the same length as each other?? All help much appreciated.

i am sure some one will correct me if i am incorrect but...

one HDMI from bluray to sony reciever, then one from reciever to TV.

you will need a subwoofer cable (i think)

lengths of cable matching exactly? if you have enough cable fine get them to match if not dont worry

if you use the PS2 just sometimes i would guess you could plug into (component or it it composite??) at the back of the sony reciever or if you want to tidy away when not using i think your TV had connectors at the front or side for occasional use items ....

hope that helps a bit...

i am sure someone who has some or all of your kit will be along to give a more definitive answer soon

thanks very much indeed - it's difficult for us non-technical bods to understand all this stuff, but I'm still desperate for the end result to be as good as possible! If anyone has any additional tips they would be much appreciated.

The matching lengths of cable is really not important and you will not hear any differences if your rear right speaker was 10m away from your receiver and your rear left only 3m.

Make sure that both your hdmi cables are hdmi 1.3. This will enable you auto lip sync, 1080p, deep colour, etc,. A subwoofer cable will connect from the subwoofer pre out socket on your receiver to either socket (left or right) of your Jamo200 subwoofer.
