Higher Resolution?

maybe this is a stupid question but will their be sets (putting 3d aside) giving a higher resolution than 1080p?

samsung were heading down this route werent they what happened?

Yes in the future there will be 2160p , but these are for the very large displays which i guess will work its way down to the average size TV in our homes

Just to note as it will be picked on there are already 2160 display screens out there but i don't know if there just demo's or you can actually buy them

I've heard that 4K2K broadcasts have already been tested in the far East, but expectations for it to be a standard are a good 5 years away.

We think that manufacturers should've gone the 4K2K route instead of 3D, then brought in 3D later which would have made a better impact on larger screens. We're looking forward to the first 4K2K projectors.

Well, honestly I don't see the reason to bother about neither 3D nor higher resolutions.

It would be far better to concentrate on improving the 1080p resolution instead.
Resolutions above 1080p really make no sense on screens below 100 inches. So perheps in Cinemas it would be a good idea.

And for serious home cinema of course
