Just went to visit my brother's new venture today - based in Kings Cross, a kind of bar/club where the main attraction is music played through a decent HiFi. I think they're opening properly in a couple of weeks.

I think there's still some adjustments to be made, as it doesn't sound as good as my AVI DM9s right now (of course!) but there's potential....

Here's some pictures:

What a novel idea... do you think it will ever catch on?! ;-)

Looks the business though. I wish them well.

What are those big handsome looking speakers? Looks like they've some serious heavy weight kit there.

I don't know - I suspect that it'd be a case of first-come, first served! Or if someone vacates the prime table, you can *** in there.

However, I don't think the imaging is at all good - mostly due to the room. You just have to admire the scale and presence of the sounds.

A lot of unknowns at the moment.

Admirable either way. There are a fair number of coffee shops and bars in Tokyo with a similar aim. Often the focus is on classic, old (big!) JBL speakers, vinyl and tube amps. Not that I've even bothered going for various reasons (I don't go out much now that I have small kids, not really the kind of scene/atmosphere I enjoy, etc.)

Great speakers badly positioned in an acoustically untreated room full of w**ker hipsters drinking almond milk and Punk IPA, all talking over the music (probably obscure and crap) about how great it is to work for Google? Not my idea of a good night out, but each to their own!

I wondered if it might be possible to get matching beard and wooly hat to cover my bald bonce!

Looks like nice premises - hope the venture goes well. What would be a nice idea (by arrangement only of course) is having a facility of - say - a different speaker to compare (from a friend or customer). Something informal and not too serious.

Hope it all goes well! - cheers tonky

This is quite interesting and gives a flavour of what they're about musically.
