Hi, I have an Arcam A80 amp connected to Denon 3802 for Av duties, there is a processor mode on the Arcam amp to enable me to use this in 2 channel mode and whilst connected to the denon amp it acts as a power amp to the front speakers only, so the question is if I want to upgrade my Arcam do I have to stick with another arcam with the processor mode or can I choose an amp of my choise and if so what way should it be connected up, many thanks in advance to all who reply.

I know that Moon stereo amps have an a/v bypass to allow use as part of an a/v system only wanting stereo sometimes.....

Quite a few amps have this or similar. I have a Cambridge Audio 840A and use the fixed input option. When AV is selected, the calibrated volume level of the stereo amp cannot be altered. Off the top of my head, some if not most Naim amps also offer this.
