just search under the home cinema section - the amp will not light up to show tru hd as the decoding is being done within the ps3.

you need to set the ps3 to output the audio as Linear PCM, then you will get the full-definition 7.1 channel sound. With this setting, the PS3 does the decoding itself, then just feeds the appropriate uncompressed audio stream out over HDMI

sorry should have also said must be connected by hdmi and you must have turned the settings on within the sound menu on the ps3 to say your amp can accept all the audio formats

If you want the receiver to say "Dolby True HD" on the front, then it won't, as the PS3 transmits HD audio via LPCM. If the receiver's saying LPCM on the front, and the you've ensured the blu-ray you're playing has been set to use the HD audio sound track then you're getting HD audio.

On the PS3 select sound settings

Select HDMI

Select AUTO

Check that all the Dolby Digital, DTS and all the PCM boxes are ticked (inc. 7.1)

Save

Go to the BD/DVD settings

Select PCM as the audio setting and again save

That should be it. Set your amp to auto and ensure you select the HD audio
track in the menu and you can see which audio format is being played by

pressing the display button during playback.

On your PS3:

On the PS3:-
Select Sound Settings
Select HDMI
Select AUTO
Check DD, DTS and all PCM boxes up to 7.1 are ticked
Save the settings
Go to the BD/DVD settings
Select Audio Output Format as PCM and then save the settings again.

As already mentioned, the amp won't be performing the decoding as the PS3 decodes the audio on board and output the decoded audio stream as LPCM. It cannot bitstream the HD audio to the amp for external decoding.

At the film's menu, select the HD audio soundtrack and once the film starts, you can press the display button on the PS3 remote to see what you're hearing.
