Help with Sony STR-DG820

Hello,

First post! Anyway I recieved a Sony STR-DG820 yesterday and have set it up with Panasonic DMPBD35 using HDMI. I have set the player to Bitstream but on Blu Ray disks it does not display HD audio on the Amplifiers display. Am I doing something wrong here? Also if I change the players setting to PCM, the Amp describes it as LPCM is this HD audio?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Make sure all are set to Bitstream and secondary audio is off and then select the HD audio track on the disc. If you press the info/display button on the player, it should tell you which audio format is being decoded and output as LPCM. LPCM is the 'language' that the amp understands for processing so yes if you're decoding the relevant HD audio format within the player and outputting as LPCM, you are hearing the HD audio track. The only difference is that the decoding is being done by the player rather than the amp.
