My Sony has started to play up, when you put a BLu Ray disc in it starts to load, and then stops at 7 on the display sometimes it will go past this after a minute or so, but last night it went past the 7, played the twentieth century fox advert and then froze at 9 on the display, and I had to unplug the player. Has anybody had this fault? Up to last night I thought it was just a firm were issue. Not to sure now.

Does it do this with all discs? If just the one then it's probably marked, damaged or dirty...

The first time it froze it was with a new disk, night and day so I took the film back and had it swapped, and the same happened with the new disc, so I thought it just was a update issue, but recently I've bought the alien box set, A team and social network, and its happened with all these blu rays?

If it helps, I had some problems with Knight & Day as well on my BDP370.
It's due to the BD Live content I believe, it does eventually play but it searches online for ages to download the content (and I have a fast connection).

I presume you have installed the latest firmware update from Sony?

I've checked and there is no new update. Does yours take a long time when you first put the disk in, at the stage I think it is reading the disk? But like I said its nearly every disk now.

The BDP370 is one of the faster loading units around but I do remember waiting ages for the K&D disc to load, due to all the BD Live stuff.
If you are experiencing really slow loading times on all discs it could also be a laser or transport fault.

I'm away travelling at the moment but I'll be back home on Wednesday evening, when I can post some loading times for several discs so you will have a rough guide to what you should be getting if that will help?

All this BD Live Java stuff reminds me of DVD in it's infancy.
As soon as The Matrix came out, it triggered many companies to rush out firmware updates as some of the seamless branching stuff just locked up several players including my trusty old Samsung.
I remember Samsung sending out new chips for the brave souls who requested them so we could perform surgery on our playes just so we could choose the blue/red pill from the menu sequence.
Then along came one of the Austin Powers DVDs and that also caused some upset.

Even today, there are some BluRay discs that start off with a disclaimer regarding possible compatability issues due to the ever changing Java standards.

I'll get back with the loading times on Wednesday for you.

I think you are right I've just erased all data of my memory stick and disconnected the player from the internet, then played a disk, no problem loaded straight away. Then plugged it back onto the internet and it took much longer, I've just got to be patient I think not one of my strong points, ill test it through out the day and let you know how I get on.
Thanks

I forgot to mention that, doh!
The memory stick at the back is where all the BD Live stuff goes.
It's good practice to remove and reformat the little sucker every month or so if you watch a lot of discs, keeps the loading time sweet

For all those with a 370, there was a new firmware update out on 10/02/11 (M03.R.742). I updated mine by CD without issue.

Do you know if my player would have done this automatically be cause when you search it says its up to date.

That's just the network update. If you've got a blank CD-R, download it from HERE now as I did. Just agree the terms at the bottom of the page and then download to your PC. Unzip and burn the 2 files to a data CD and pop it in your player and it'll ask you if you want to update.

I'll have to wait I've no software to unzip files.

JohnDuncan:Are you sure? Later versions of windows (XP onwards I think) had zip built in.
I can never get them open, I have down loaded programs but when the free trail runs out take them back of. My little girls laptop has windows 7 and I can not unzip on that as well.

Ok, for now download a trial version of WinZip - they'll give you about 14 days or so.

Then, disable all network connectivity on your 370 (it's in the settings menu) - this will block any attempt to access any BD-Live features - if this is slowing things down.
