Help with purchasing a new 46 - 50 inch tv

I am looking at buying a new 46-50 inch full HD tv and need some help.

Do I opt for plasma or LCD ? (currently I have an old 42 inch panasonic plasma HD ready).

I am very interested in purchasing the new panasonic 50 v 10 plasma but was wondering if people thought the new phillips and samsung lcd tvs are better ?

My budget is around £1500 - £1600 and I would like to know which is the best tv to get ? and whether I should go with plasma or LCD ?

plasma vs lcd ?? its like beef or salmon , you like what you like , id say you should head to the shops and check em all out yourself , see what you like , any of the tvs costing £1500 from philips ,samsung , panasonic etc are going to be very good , and all will have fans on these forums , beware of pushy salespeople trying to tell you whats best for you , when it could be whats best for them , commissions often vary on tvs ...
