Hi hi-tec peeps
emotion-1.gif

Just joined the What hi-fi forum club and also the sound and vision 'Revolution'. So i am new to the hi-tech world and just starting to part with the hard earned (blood, sweat and tears!!) cash I been saving for the last 2years and am nearly there on composing my desired home cinema system

. My system comprises of......Samsung le46f86 LCD, PS3, sky+, Jamo A102hcs5 5.1 speaker package and just trying to decide on one of the onkyo amps (506,605 or 606??). I can arrrghhhh! painfully stretch to the £400 of the 606 but wondering if it is worth the extra cash bearing in mind the speaker package???

My other problem is that I am unsure of what cables I would need and where they be connected ie.. opticals, hdmi's etc.... i notice i have optical outs on the sky+ and the ps3. I already have 1 hdmi for the ps3.

As you some might be able to see, my purchases have been strongly influenced by What hi-fis reviews and the comments i have read in these forums so your advice is truly appreciated.

Many thanks

If you're set on an Onkyo amp, the 605 or 606 are definitely best for you to take advantage of the HD audio the PS3 is outputting (assuming you are watching Blu-Ray films on it?). Have a look at this thread as all the Onkyo's at one supplier are currently being offered at 10% off which might make your choice easier?!

Rememeber though, there are other amps out there apart from Onkyo. Take a look at the possible new Sony amps coming out for example - discussed in this post.

Hope this helps!

Hey thanks professor of the hats!

Maybe Just saved me £40 (enough for a couple of blue rays, he he!)

was going to pop down Richer Sounds but still at £400 like most places. Never has to be just Onkyo but know of no other which competes on value and yes will be feeding blu rays

still unsure on the cables required for that set up but will try work it out. Cheers again
