Help with new NAS

I have just bought a new NAS, the Seagate GoFlex and plan to put my iTunes library on it plus bits and peices of my other halfs on there. Do I just put a copy of my entire library on there and leave the same on my Macbook or do I transfer the whole library to the NAS and if I trf the whole library to the NAS how do I go on with updating my iPhone/adding new music to iTunes
