Mainly listen to vinyl with some CD's, now looking to buy first DAC to complement current system which has MF Xray cdp, MF Nu Vista integrated and Proac 2.5's. I have a Macbook pro which I'll use as a source and I like the benefit of downloading single tracks/cherry picking from albums via itunes.

Suggestions please for DAC only up to £1k for this purpose. Also any ideas how much roughly I would have to spend on a DAC to improve my CD replay quality using the MF as a transport? Thanks in advance.

The DAC that is causing quite a stir atm is the Chord Hugo. It's a little above budget, but this (alleged) giant killing DAC is the one to beat.....I haven't heard it, so can't give personal insight.

Checked the reviews, worth investigating further. Particularly like the size given the number of boxes we all seem to have nowadays. Bonus with headphone faciliyy which I'd imagine would be of good wuality also. Thanks.

I currently use a Beresford Caiman between a Macbook Pro and Roksan Kandy amp & speakers which I am happy with.

Fortunately/unfortunately, I started browsing hi-fi websites and succumed to buying a Caiman II which is supposed to be in a whole different league.

It is considerably below your price range at only £225 but is supposed to deliver a huge bang for your bucks. I have not had the opportunity to connect it up yet but I will report back in a few days.
