Set it up yesterday, and all running well, rent films fine, watch you tube fine, watch a movie stored on my i-phone on my tv fine, listen to music strored on my i-phone from the av-receiver fine but cant find my pc! nothing listed under computers, have enabled homesharing on pc in i-tunes have enabled homesharing on apple tv. I have checked and both are using the same account i.e. same user name and password. When i send a film from my i-phone to apple tv you click on an icon onscreen when film is playing, it is a rectangle with a v shape through it and choose apple tv, the same icon appears on the computer screen in i-tunes when playing a film but when i click on it i only see one option "my computer" so to sum up can get nothing to apple tv from pc but no problem getting stuff from i-phone to apple tv. Lastly all have latest downloads as i did that yesterday before i started. Can anyone help?

Could be firewall. Does the Apple TV appear as a device in iTunes? Does it appear as a remote speaker in the bottom right of iTunes? Have you set up Apple TV as a paired device in iTunes (under Preferences/Apple TV)? The latter was the *old* way to do it so dunno if you still have to with @TV2...

Apple tv does not appear as a device in i-tunes. It also doesnt appear as a remote speaker bottom right of i-tunes the only option is my computer. As for paired device in i-tunes had a look in preferences and cant see a way to do it but not sure what im looking for. havent turned off the firewall will try that now.

Just turned off firewall still nothing, just dont get it. I dont need anything else to make this work do i? I have pc windows 7 i-tunes with latest updates Apple tv and an i-phone no other hardware or software required is there?

Don't think so. Don't think it needed airport utility or anything like that...

With my old Apple TV you had to join them together on iTunes:

but that may have been for syncing.

I suggest that u havent set your pc to allow a connection from whatever device u are trying to connect with.

Windows 7:

Control Panel -> Network & Internet -> Network Sharing Center -> Change Advanced Sharing Settings

Scroll down till u get to media streaming options, and click on the link 'Choose Media Streaming Options'

On next screeen there is a droplist showing 'Local Networks' - change it to 'All Networks' and then click 'Allow All'. Click ok and exit

I thought that Tv to pc would be the easy bit and tv to phone would be a pain, but seems to be the other way!

Hi there,

I also have the ATV2, and I had a few setup probs too. I did have a firewall issue, but that gave me an error code. You're not getting anything like that?

It seems strange that you can use AirPlay (the icon for that is the rectangle/triangle thing you mentioned earlier) from your phone but not from your PC. When you go into iTunes on your PC, if you go to 'Preferences' then 'Devices', are the relevant boxes checked for 'Look for remote speakers connected with AirPlay' and that sort of thing?

Thanks Bigblue235 the one i had missed was "Allow i-tunes control from remote speakers". Its all working perfectly, thanks again!

Yes, have the remote app, spent most of the evening just watching Trailers for future releases. Its just so much better than being sat at the pc!

Ok i have lost it again. I have not changed any of the settings but there is no computer listed on Apple TV and on i-tunes there is only "my computer" listed when you click on the icon used to send it to apple tv. It still all works fine sending from the i-phone to apple tv and apple tv works fine for downloading films watching You tube etc. anyone got any ideas?

Hi guys,

I've to apologise for hijacking this forum, but if I could get some help that would be nice.

Wondering if any of you is familiar with this: at first, music freezes, so I unplug from mains and switched on again. Put it back on worked for 3 min but freezes again. Had to do a factory reset without interruption, but then it won't come back on. The amber light flashes. I've done the menu + minus buttons. Do you know how I can fix it?🙁

Thanks

If you've done a factory reset, I think you'll need to set up the appleTV again using the airport utility mentioned above, to make sure it's on the right network, and properly configured, etc/p>
