I bought a Yamaha DSP-AX863SE on Friday, quite surprised to get it,was looking for one of the newer ones, local dealer had 2 plus one on show.My problem is getting the HD sound.

My player is the Panasonic DMP-BD35.Buying one at a time.

I still have a 36" crt Panasonic that produces great picture quality so i'm hanging on to it at the moment. So i'm set up apart from the HD TV.I have connected the player to the amp by hdmi & component & taken the component from the amp to the tv.

I bought a Blu ray disc of the first Die Hard, the case said Dolby Digital & DTS HD sound formats. The player showed DTS sound, without the HD showing. Is this how it works, was i getting the HD sound or normal DTS.

I had it cranked up because my neighbour is away & the sound was good but was i getting HD ?

Set "BD-Video Secondary Audio" to "Off".

HDMI AV OUT terminal: Set "Dolby D/Dolby D +/Dolby TrueHD" or "DTS/DTS-HD" to "Bitstream" or "PCM". That way you will get HD Sound.

You can then check it by pressing the Audio button, if it is then not right you canchange the sound by repeatedly pressing the Audio button till it comes up with the hd audio sound you want. But do as I said above first.

Thanks, didn't know it could be checked that way. They were set to bitstream, pressed audio & it showed DTS HD MASTER ,changed it to pcm & noticed that the back speakers then came in to play & showed up in the receiver display.

Cheers.
