I have just bought an HD TV

I do not have Sky HD , just normal Sky +

Is the only way to view in HD to unplug my Sky box and hook up to the Ariel socket on the back of the TV and set up Freesat.

Sorry if this a daft question.

Thanks

Hi, the only way to view true HD is through an HD source such as Sky HD, BluRay etc

Your Sky + box and the TV's own Freeview tuner will both supply a signal which your TV will then upscale to 'fill' the screen.

Of course if your new toy has FreeSat HD built in then you will need to connect it to an appropiate dish in order to receive the HD signal.

Hope this helps.

To receive HD you will need one of these

SKY HD

Virgin+

If your TV hasn't got it, an external Freesat tuner connected to a sattelite dish

Freeview doesn't do HD yet, but it is very unlkely that your TV has the HD capable Freeview tuner.
