Hi

Hope someone can help me please.

I have a Sony 32v25000 LCD panel with a Pioneer DV-696av Progressive DVD player. I wanted to set my DVD player to output 720p to my TV, which should be able to handle that according to the TV handbook (it's a 1366 x 786 panel).

But when i set the DVD player to output 720p it auto formats the picture into a 4:3 size with huge black bars either side - I'm confused as to why it's doing this as i've told the TV to expect a widescreen input on all av inputs.

Is it because the player is multi region ? - has the process of making it multi-region done something odd to the output ?

Thanks

Dean

I see no reason why it should be doing that. As you say, your screen can certainly take a 720p picture, and the fact that the DVD player has been made 'multi-region' shouldn't present a problem. All I can suggest is you check that the aspect ratio isn't reverting to 4:3 or 'auto' when you change the output resolution - remember there will be settings on your player and your TV.
