I have a budget of £1000. The TV would be mainly used for Netflix and PS4 gaming. I want at least 50 inches. If anyone can recommend anything that would be great. Been looking at the Samsung 55" UE55HU6900 and this seems ok?

Yes, that's the best 4K TV for the price.

Really? http://www.hdtvtest.co.uk/news/ue55hu6900-201405233782.htm

I'm not sure which I'd choose, but I trust HDTVtest 100%, and if they only give it a qualified recommendation, I'd stay well clear.

There's nothing else to satisfy OP's requirements (55-inch 4K for less than a grand and does Netflix 4K). The only other TV worth considering is PANASONIC VIERA TX55AX630B which doesn't do Netflix 4K.

I was disappointed with the Sony when I demoed it. Poor motion handling and soft pictures. That's why I didn't recommend it.

The user reviews are good on Richer Sounds website, though I'll admit, that's not necessarily a good pointer.

Time for the OP to raid his kids money boxes. *blum3*

Even the Samsung enjoys excellent user reviews on Tesco and Pixmania.

Personally, at this budget, I would buy a 1080p TV like Samsung H6400 or Sony W829. In any case, the 4K TVs under consideration aren't HDR capable to display the full benefits of 4K.

Thanks for all the suggestions. If need be I can stretch to £1,300 it just means saving for an extra month or two. As for the 4K, as this would be a bug purchase I want to make sure it's going to last. I'm not in a position where by I can replace this in 3-5 years when 4K has caught up. Any suggestions at the £1,300 would be great...

4K will take longer than that to become mainstream. If you really want a futureproof TV, wait for 2015 models. 4K standards were only finalised in January 2015.

If you still want 4K, look at Samsung HU7500.
