Yup! Tbh these speakers have shown me the difference, and most likely have started me on a long upgrade path!

I had a listen to some FLAC's and the difference compared to 320mp3's was realy quite considerable - que lots of re-encoding work! Best get the CD's down from the loft!

Question tho: i thought that Sonos Connect was a decent well respected digital source? Maybe could be extended with a upgraded DAC, but what do you mean by 'Better Digital Source"? You talking like a Cyrus / Naim Unity?

Cheers

FWIW My advice is, on a time scale that suits your wallet, head down the Streaming route. This will mean in all likelihood, ripping your CDs (probably in FLAC) onto a NAS and getting a good Streamer.

My preference (as most regulars on here are sick of hearing) is the Linn DS range, but you should also compare what Naim and Cyrus have to offer.

This will now give you access to full fat 16 bit CD quality, as well as 24 bit Hi-Res stuff.

I suggest that when you are ready, you head off to your local dealer/s and let them demonstrate (or not) the superiority of a good Streamer over the equivalently priced CDP.

Once you hear what a difference this can make, it will inextricably lead you into upgrading the amp (or it could happen the other way round).

You need to be aware that you are possibly (probably) heading down a frustrating, dangerous and expensive, but rewarding path.

You may be experiencing some high frequency reflections which could also cause this brightness.

Are your speakers set up directed down the length of the room? Whats directly around the speakers (above, to the left and right and behind them? Is it symetrical. What type of walls, anything on them.

If you are not into making panels yourself there are planety of retailers fo acoustic products (I will always recommend rockwool products over foam) that can help with this type of refection problem
