Hi all

My system currently comprises Nad C521BEE cd player, Marantz SR5600 multi-channel receiver, Rotel RB980BX power amp used to drive a pair of MA S6's. Although the sound is pretty good with good midrange and fairly deep bass, I feel that there is something lacking. It seems to lack transparency and open and detailed highs. Do you think a better CD player will open up the sound and give me that extra bit of transparency. Recommendations please.

he's right you should try the matching amp for that CD player even though your set up is extremely good. Stereo playback is for stereo playback and HT is and always is for HT playback.

Just had another thought. The Rotel 980BX is widely regarded as a fine power amp even though it is getting on in years now. Would it then be a better idea to get a suitable preamp and connect the Nad directly to this. Would this make the desired improvements to the sound?
