Hello,

I'm an amateur Hi-Fi enthusiast and I've owned a turntable for the past 5 years. Right now I am using a Sony PS-T22 direct drive turntable. I bought it refurbished with a QLM 30 MK III stylus. I am looking for something that will sound a bit better as I know that my speakers are capable of producing better sound. I've heard that vintage Pickering and Stanton cartridges are good but I am unsure of where to start. Any recommendations would be much appreciated.

Also I currently use the Phono preamp that is built into my early 1990's Sony Receiver. Does anyone have recommendations for an external preamp that would provide a better sound?

Thanks!

Vintage sony will have a low mass arm suitable for a med/high compliance cartridge
Ortofon OM/Super OM 10/20/30 or Grado prestige 3 range black/silver
Phono stage whats your budget £100 edwards appentice or project

Thank you for the information! I took a look at the Ortofon Cartridges and I think that will work. It appears the Edwards Apprentice isn't sold in the US but I was able to find the Pro-ject Phono Preamp at a reasonable price.
