I am looking for an integrated amp plus DAC solution to replace my Naim UnitiLite and was thinking about the Hegel H160. I have not heard the Hegel because this is difficult where i live, but i was recently impressed by a Marantz PM-14S1SE. I was also very impressed by a Chord Mojo demo.

So i was wondering how the Hegel H160 compares as amplifier and as DAC to the Marantz PM-14S1SE plus Chord Mojo combination.

Hi ErwinC

Hegel amplification is an excellent match with PMC loudpeakers. As i said recently regarding Dynaudio loudspeakers Hegel amps high damping factor gives excellent control, grip and drive. Their control and tonality helps form an excellent match with PMC's.

Btw, some of our clients have subsituted their Hugo's in preference to the DAC within the H160.

All the best

Hi. The Mojo has had some reports of shoutyness, so I'd be careful pairing it with twenty 22. I'd look at Hegel H160, or Superuniti (or Nac-N 172xs+nap 155xs or nap200 - or simply adding a nap to your unitilite). Or Linn stuff.
