Hi all!

I am looking to buy some headphones for movies and gaming and I'm thinking of going for the Audio Technica ATH-AD900's. They come with a 3m cable but I need 4m to reach my surround sound amp (Denon 2310) and I believe that adding any extension cables will have a negative impact on sound quality. Would a 1m extension have a noticeable effect on the sound? I imagine the quality of the cable will have a large say in this so I'm prepared to pay more for a high quality extension, can anybody recommend any or is there something in particular I need to be looking for in a 'good' extension cable?

Thanks a lot for any help and advice,

Ian

Before buying my headphones I had some email correspondence with B & W. They recommended standard extension cable via amazon and said in their opinion it would have no noticeable difference on SQ.

Hi all!

Thanks a lot for your replies! That's great, thank you for the links and info. I kind of understood how an extension cable could impact the quality but wondered if the loss in quality would actually be noticable to the human ear hehe. I feel much happier about it now and look forward to ordering me some shiny new headhpones :)

Thanks again for your help, much appreciated :)

The Grado cable is excellent. If you want something a little better, the Chord Company Cobra or Chameleon headphones extension cable are each another step up.
