Having re-decorated the house I have not got round to wiring up my speakers yet so using headphones which I bought a couple of years back and rarely used.

They are Grado SR 60 attached to a Musical Fidelity V Cam headphone amp.

My amp is an Audio Analogue Puccini.

The sound from the headphones is poor - tinny.

Is the issue the V Cam or the phones? I know the amp was cheap - and the interconnects are cheap and cheerful

What do I need to do to get improved sound quality? Is the amp not up to the job?

If the Grado is in good shape physically and electrically, then make sure the drivers aren't damaged and the earpads are good and spongy (not stiff). If all of that is good, a tube(valve) amp is usually better than solid state.
