Hi All

Can anyone recommend a headphone amp with pre amp for under €1500

It will

1. Sit between my wiim ultra and Grado 325X

2. Sit between my Technics SL 1200MK2 and Grado 325X

I'll have to a bit of lead switching when alternating between 1 & 2 but hopefully my Q is clear.

thanks as always!

Richard

If you're considering headphone amp/preamp you need to match the sensitivity ohms on your headphones.
Your Grado 325X, what's the ohms and sensitivity? In most cases, this isn't an issue.

Just to give you an illustration:

My SingXer SA-1 works well with my Planar Magnet headphones, which have low ohms (18ohms) and low sensitivity 85db.

My other tube headamp, XDUOO TA-66 are 65ohms (minimum) up to 600ohms; works best with my Beyerdynamics Amiron >250ohms

OP could consider the ones from Pro-Ject or ART DJ Pre II Phono Preamplifier for approx. £65.
I've got the USB Phono Plus - which will do precisely what OP Richard wants - without cable swaps.

(I bought it as an optical to USB interface to transfer audio stored on a Freesat recorder to my laptop).

But I've found that its phono and headphones amps sound great.

For what its worth, I think WHF gave it 4 stars.IMG_20250528_183129.jpg

Well, sort of.
Good though it is, it's a jack of some trades he doesn't need - and he's got the budget to buy dedicated, separate amps....
I think this might work.
