HDMI to Zone 2

Hi

Please can someone explain to me why HDMIsignals into an AVR cannot be sent to Zone 2...is this for some kind of legal / copyright reason ?

I have a Pioneer LX85 amp and speant ages trying find what the problem was when routing sky (through HDMI) to Zone 2 with no success. THere was nothing in the manual to suggest it couldnt be done.

I then spoke to someone who has just purchased a Onkyo amp and has the same issue...I had a look online and it seems you are not able to do this on any AVR!.....why ?

I've got a vague recollection from somewhere that generally only analogue sources can be sent to zone 2 outputs. I've no idea why though or whether that applies to all AV amps, you could try connecting the Sky analogue outputs to another input on the amp and see if that works to zone 2 I guess?
