having just bought Sky HD, i've run out of HDMI ports on my telly - i have a grand total of .....1

I'm looking at either the Thor 2 way selector or the Belkin Pure AV HDMI switcher. Has anyone tried either? Can anyone advise if either product is worth the purchase?

I'll be using them with my Pioneer PDP-4270 plasma, Denon 1940 DVD player and Sky HD box. I also use a logitech harmony 525 remote and don't really want to have to use a seperate remote - would the harmony be able to contro the likes of the pure av switch??

Thor 2 way auto selector:http://www.audiovisualonline.co.uk/dynamic/eshop_products.set/ref/1533/thor-2-way-automatic-hdmi-selector/display.html

Belkin Pure AV: http://www.dabs.com/productview.aspx?quicklinx=4DT0&CategorySelectedId=11230&InMerch=1

thanks.

I take it you're not thinking of adding surround sound to your set-up?

Most modern A/V receivers have multiple HDMI inputs, allowing you to use 1 HDMI connection to your TV despite having a number of sources.

I already have a Sony AV amp connecting up some B&W M-1's and a REL sub, it works very well although it doesn't have HDMI switching. I will upgrade it eventually, but not just yet...

Haven't tried either but I think you'll be fine with your remote as I'm pretty sure the 525 has a learning ability so, even if you the switch itself wasn't on Logitech's database, you could program it in yourself as a new device.

yeah, i don't think i'll have much of a problem with the remote which has me leaning towards the belkin/pure av switch. The thing is has anyone actually used one? Am i likely to notice a difference in the quality of the picture? I'm using QED HDMI cables.

just an update to this... have now recieved this belkin hdmi swict and am using it with my Pioneer 4270xd plasma, denon 1940 and new kid to the setup pace Sky HD. using QED SR HDMI and QED HDMI-P cables i have not noticed any drop in quality to the picture performance yet, although yes, it's only been in 2 days and i've mostly been watching hd content on sky.

it was also very straight forward to add into my logitech 585 remote software....

overall so far: thumbs up for price/performance/out of the box usability.
