I finally bought a HDMI cable for my TH42PX70B, however I need some help to understand some things.

So here goes :-

I watched a blu ray disc on my ps3 connected via the HDMI cable. The film loaded up and stated 1080P input. The film looked very good but can someone just confirm whether the tv downscales them to 720P ?

After watched the blu ray disc on my ps3 I watched a standard dvd through my ps3 and the hdmi cable. Again the tv displayed 1080P input. I was wondering whether the standard dvd would have been upscaled as the picture looked better than watching through my dvd player and a scart lead ?

Can someone please explain to me

1). When i am watching blu ray discs through my ps3 the tv states 1080P. Does the tv then downscale to 720 ?

2). When watching standard dvds through my ps3 and hdmi cable are they upscaled ?

Yes, you're set is an HD Ready TV, meaning it will accept the 1080p signal output by the PS3 but downscale it to 720p. It still looks marvellous though! The other option you have would be to set your PS3 to output at 720p (can be done in the Video Settings section). The TV would then not have to do any downscaling. Have a try of both and see which you prefer - there's no right or wrong answer for this.

Indeed they are and the PS3 is rather good at this (I have one too!). Again, it will be upscaling it to whatever you have set the PS3 to output at in your Video Settings section, so in your case it's upscaling to 1080p and then the TV is downscaling to 720p.
