I use both expensive and cheap HDMI cables now and, whilst I did perform a comparison in the past and noticed improvements with the more expensive cables, I do now recognise that those differences were certainly minor and are never going to improve a bad picture / sound and make it amazing so it really isn't worth taking too much time to worry about it.

Should any company claiming that their maga expensive HDMI cable to be superior now be taken to court over faulse claims given that we now live in a 'blame society' ?

Interesting question.

Considering that it's been scientifically proven beyond all reasonable doubt that any properly functioning HDMI cable will have exactly the same performance as all other HDMI cables. It's surprising that nobody has ever taken one of the overpriced cable manufacturers to court for false advertising.

A lot of these differences are subjective opinions which cannot be challenged in the courts. The courts are aware that some claim to see differences, while some do not. So they don't interfere.

With the recent tests which show that the data is identical from different cables, I'd say that's grounds for a case. I'd wager some internet warrior will bring a case sooner or later. Doesn't Max have form with this sort of stuff?

I couldn't be botherd doing it myself but I expect that someone probably will sooner or later. It would be nice if they set a precedent.

Some people hear and see a difference. Some do not. The evidence strongly suggests that any difference is not inherent in the cable and is all down to the listener/viewers perceptions based on expectation bias.

So try one out and if it improves your own audio/visual experience then good. But be rest assured a cheap working HDMI cables works as well as a more expensive audiophile one.

I am currently using the HDMI cables for my desktop PC, They are digital ones and I am using these cables since last year. No problem existed from then to now and the quality is also fine. The Cable that we are choosing should be able to provide us the better quality picture with total clarity and with fine volume. I used to download movies and games frequently and works more than eight hours daily. There is no problem and data loss existed. Could you please provide some more attachments about the best cables?

It's fad to dismiss upgraded HDMI cables, as it seems like it was for analogue cables not so long ago. People just love to 'debunk'.

Error correction re jitter is far from perfect. Misinformation can be fed into the system. If not, then why would hi-fi companies such as Naim and Cyrus invest so much in error correction for a DAC, or develop software to reduce jitter via a transport? Marketing spin? So there's no difference between CD transports?

It's not a fad, it's just that people need to be aware that a more expensive HDMI cable will not give you a "better" picture or sound

Plus, (and apologies, I can't find the link at the moment) one of the guys who's job it is to come up with the HDMI cable standards says the same.

Now that is a good way to test - certainly more reliable than people. Certainly echoes my experience of buying a What HiFi 5* cable that made no discernable difference when compared with the free cables that came with the gear.
