HDMI cable review - What were they thinking?

I agree with this sentiment to a degree - not with retailers recommending better cables which they believe to improve the setup, but with the likes of Comet and Currys where some salesmen will try to push cables of dubious ability and way above what they require onto unsuspecting customers. I was with a friends' Dad when he was buying a basic Sony surround system (£250 it cost) and was there when the salesman tried to insist a £50 Monster optical cable was necessary to hook up the PS3 to the new system. I'm automatically suspect of Monster cables anyway, but a £50 cable to connect to a £250 system?! I shook my head and said we'll get a cheaper one at Richer Sounds thanks since that's where we were going afterwards anyway and amazingly, the price was knocked down to £10 all of a sudden...
