HDMI Cable 5.1 or 7.1

Hi guys I have recently purchased a new samsung 3d tv with a 3d bluray and also the Onkyo SR608 reciever, I bought pure av hdmi 3d cables but want to know whether or not the ("5.1" Black series P15 ) cable as stated on the box can be used with my 7.1 set up? Or whether i need to purchase the ("7.1" White series P21) cable as stated on the box. Hope that makes sense!!

These were bought from Currys.

In a nutshell are ALL hdmi cables capable of delivering 7.1 surround sound?

Hi,

I cannot see the model number with 5.1 or 7.1 mentioned.

The HDMI lead just passes the information down to the amp it is the amp that processes this and depending on the number of speakers you have ouytputs it accordingly, and of course the soundtrack has to be 7.1 or 5.1.

Thanks guys for your reply, so its a bit of a con then? The model number is P15 (black) lead and P21 (white) lead, they are from currys so dont know if they are packageged different.
