I have a Sony DAV-DZ home cinema and 26" Panasonic TX-26LXD52 LCD. I've connected them with a £5 hdmi cable I bought from ebay. The cable was meant for an xbox but the ebay seller let me down, so I decided to use it for my system rather than scart. The upscaled picture is great but I wonder if it's worth me buying one of the brand names? Prob not watching 720p on a 26" LCD but then I've read conflicting story's on hdmi leads, and I will be upgrading to a larger lcd at some point. Some say they all do the same job of digi transfer, and some say more expensive leads get the best from your setup.

I'd say the easiest way to solve your dilemma without argument would be to visit a dealer and ask if you can borrow a recognised brand HDMI cable (see WHF's Buyers Guide for some ideas on good ones) or buy one with a no quibbles money back guarantee. You are then free to test the difference for yourself - if you see an improvement you can keep it, if you don't, you can take it back and get your money back and feel satisfied you're not limited by the cable.

I really wouldnt bother with a 26"

I dont think id be able to tell a difference anyways

Wait till you HAVE a bigger tv (37" or over) before looking into trying them
