Has anybody tried running HD through an old, but good quality CRT television? I take it you can’t tell the difference . I am getting such a great picture on my Sony 14” CRT , I find it difficult to believe it can be bettered.

Big problem being that consumer CRTs (with the exception of an oddity of an HD Ready Samsung that was produced a few years back) have neither the resolution nor connectivity to handle HD.

Didn't Sony develop a flat screen HD Ready CRT set for the US market a few years back? IIRC, from comments I read, it was one heavy (and expensive) set.

HD CRTs are incredibly expensive, incredibly heavy and not very big. Sony do professional HD CRT monitors that are used in film grading suites and other post-production facilities for film and TV. They do produce incredible images though and even the best flatscreens would struggle to match the depth and crispness of the picture, not to mention the motion handling.
