I'm currently using a Yamaha RX-V2600 A/V Receiver, but have been thinking of replacing it with a Receiver which can de-code HD Audio. I use a PS3 Fat for blu ray. Will I notice a difference in sound quality with dts-HD Master Audio instead of plain old dts that my Yamaha can handle? Speaker package is Kef 2005.2. The receiver I'm considering is the Onkyo TX-NR807 because of its handy 6 x HDMI inputs. Can the Onkyo handle SACD via HDMI? The Yamaha is happy with this from my Arcam DV137, but a Sony STR-DA2400ES I tried could not - I had to use the 5.1 analogue connections.

In a nutshell - without doubt you will definitely notice a difference with lossless HD audio.

The Dts Core audio which is a 1.5MBit/s is a fair advance on the standard 750kbit/s found on DVDs, But the Full HD master Audio sounds a bit better, on the Dolby side you will notice a greater difference as The Dolby HD isa lot clearer and sharper then the standard DD, and there are a couple of very Good LPCM soundtracks too, which are really great.

In Short. Yes there is an advance
