HD audio to Arcam AVR 350

Hi all,

I am considering purchasing a BD player, unfortunately the Arcam amp has no onboard decoding for HD audio. Now I know certain BD machines have onboard decoding and 5.1 analogue outputs which I am more than happy to use... but will I get the full HD audio signal and sound quality this way or only the core. I love this amp too much to get rid of it just yet!

As long as you get a BD player which can decode all the HD audio formats onboard (TrueHD and DTS HD Master Audio being the two really crucial ones), then this will be fine. Have a look at the Panasonic DMP-BD50 as an example.
