Managed to get a Wiim pro plus for £153 which is cheaper than both Amazon and Richer Sounds.

I didn't put in details as it was from HBH Woolacotts who have a series of stores throughout Devon and Cornwall covering all types of electrical appliances, audio, televisions etc. However, they only deliver or supply within those counties and don't send goods to other areas so it is only of limited use to forum members if they live outside this area.

They had a price of £169.99 as a special offer and a further 10% off if you used a particular code when ordering although I went into a local store and they applied their website quoted price and discount. Now all I have to do is work out how to use it. It will replace an Apple Airport express that has finally given up the ghost.

It was the Plymouth store that I bought it from. They seem to be expanding their hifi side both in number of makes and range and prices of equipment stocked.

Probably won't get any BF discount - because it doesn't need any.

But the big A (nor any other retailer) wouldn't dare pre-hike that - as they know that potential buyers are all too aware of the price.

Shine dulled a bit on this one. I’m in West Yorks. Amazon shipped em to Leeds Delivery Centre same day but then they disappeared. I’m sure it’s nothing to do with the crowd of random blokes they use delivering stuff in private cars 🤔

After a lot of rigmarole, managed to order a replacement at the deal price. But they’ve no stock now so will be 2 to 4 weeks.

Hope they’re worth the wait.

Indeed the following day - Friday - the big companies like Richers and Tysons had reverted to £219. However, a bit of googlage exposed a couple of sellers less anxious to raise their price. From the two I found, one had another £3 voucher for October (!) so they got my £166 and a Pro Plus is heading to DPD, thence to me!

I re-read the rave review in Hifi News - from Andrew Everard, once of WHF - and this magazine’s own write up. The state of the art performance will be very interesting to contrast with my Linn which probably represented SOTA about a decade ago. Fascinating that one is 20x the price of the other, showing how a few brands from Japan, Korea, and China have almost commoditised high-end Hifi.
