Hey I just bought a Harmony one and was wondering about the buttons for sky and virgin.

I know there is no coloured buttons,, so how do you get around this, I know you can program the buttons, but

I use all my buttons on my 515 as it is.

Also I bought from bestbuy, and have a quidco account, but its still not showing on quidco, even though their website says they will give you 10% off, This is my first purchase from quidco, So I dont know how long its supposed to take.

Thanks so much

It's a quality piece of kit but the lack of coloured buttons is it's one obvious downside. Its touchscreen tho gives you as many extra buttons as you want - 6 on the screen, but as many screens as you require. The Logitech database of components is fairly accurate so will almost certainly have the coloured buttons assigned, i imagine as touchscreen buttons (that's how it was on my TV and DVR, for example). You can add any buttons to that section you require, and move them around (which is a slightly laborious process but you'll get there in the end).

thanks for that.

so the remote will make the coloured buttons on the touch screen?

as I said i use all my buttons on mt current harmony so I would not be able to move buttons ect.

very concerned about this, because you need the buttons to use anytime tv or delete shows ect.

how can they make a remote for the uk market like this, because both tv providers use the coloured buttons.

thanks again

I find using the touch screen for regular functions really annoying.

For Sky on the Harmony, i use the Up / Down rocker (between menu and info keys) for red and green and the skip forward / backwards for yellow and blue. Bit weird at first, but I soon got used to it.

Depends what other things you need to control (Sky doesn't use the skip forward / backward buttons), and if you're happy using the touch screen it will of course work fine, but there are options.

Hi,

For the limited amount of times I use the coloured buttons the default screen position is fine for me.

Cheers,

so the remote will make the coloured buttons on the touch screen?

I imagine that's what it does, I can't see it automatically setting up the coloured buttons with any of the physical buttons. As I say, you can add any it doesn't give you automatically (these tend to be more obscure) and move around the ones it gives you / the ones you add. You can also edit the name of any button for the touchscreen buttons so it says exactly what you want.

as I said i use all my buttons on mt current harmony so I would not be able to move buttons ect.

Fair enough, altho I found with most components their were still some spare buttons. If you are using solid buttons the only thing is whether you (and family) can remember what they are - this wouldn't be natural for coloured buttons. I would say this is the advantage of the touchscreen - you can put the coloured buttons on the first screen so they're always there for that device and they will be named 'red','green' etc. And if there are any colours you don't use often (so with freeview you might use red a lot) you can move the others down the list / onto other screens in preference for buttons you use more often.

how can they make a remote for the uk market like this, because both tv providers use the coloured buttons.

As I say, it is the one drawback, and I'm not sure what the rationale is. You have to pay for a higher model to have coloured buttons and touchscreen. But, perhaps unlike some others, I found I got used to the touchscreen pretty quickly. It is particularly useful for setting up macros, so I press one (touchscreen) button to 'listen to CDs' or 'Watch DVD' etc.

Hope you work it out anyway

Once you get used to using the Harmony One remote control beleive me you will be very happy indeed because the amount of option's it has is just incredibale. I have used a great deal of so called universal remote control's in the past wich were all rubbish compared to the Harmony One and i have been using this remote for the last 2-3 year's and beleive me i will not be switching to any other. This remote control is best out there and it's just totally fabulouse.
