Grrr. Cannot make first post here with new iPhone.

Get logged into the site OK and get to this forum and can open page to start a new post and type the subject.

Great so far.

But then no way to skip to the text box here. I touch the blank area and it just higlights but no keyboard appears.

(Also the 'delete last character' button randomly skips to typematic sometimes - despite being pressed only once - and deletes everything rather than just the last character.)

I am going to have a cuppa.

I naturally assumed it was me.

I have 10 minutes 'experience' with iPhone so far, so natural to assume all problems must be my own making.

I may have accidently 'reported abuse' a few times (sorry) due to big fingers.

I have the exact same problem. The site in general is extremely slow on an iPhone or iPod Touch.

Chebby, it's a known problem. The current version of Community Server, on which we run the Forums, doesn't always work with iPhone/iPod Touch. Frustrating, I know.

JD swears if you turn the toolbar off (under Forum options in 'My account') it works fine on iPhone/iPod Touch....

Downloaded an app. Clicked on it.

All icons jiggling now. 'X' appeared at corner of new app and iPhone now locked.

Switched off.

Wont switch on.

OK now it switches on and cant stop messaging me that picture messaging isnt enabled yet and they will let me know. (about 4 times.)

Camera works.

Jiggling icons, no idea. but they went away.

Software updates all done. (earlier before starting this thread.) Registered etc.

Still yet to actually make a phone call!

Sounds like you held down on the app too long. When this happens, it allows you to drag and drop the apps in different places around the iPhone's desktop so you can arrange different apps of different genres all to be together. Pressing the X icon should delete that app.

Once you're done, press the main home button at the bottom to exit this mode.

Prof beat me to it. I find the jiggling icons happen when i don't want to move anything and don't happen when I do want to move stuff.

Correct that it works with the plain text editor, not with the ones with toolbars, but I have to change it for you, you can't do it yourself. And then you're stuck with the plain text editor - you decide, and I'll change it for you if you wish.

The backspace key often does that 'delete several characters at once' thing. iPhone/iPod Touch problem.

Yes but I did not want to delete the app having just downloaded it. Never mind.

I guess you have to be an apple person to understand the totally non-intuitive interface.

Its like web pages. There is absolutely no way to go back a page (or so it seems) no back arrows or anything.

Do I have to trace an invisible B for back or what?

This is my my payback for only ever using Firefox on the iMac. I never learnt 'Safari' ways.

None of that here.

Messages. I 'edit' then 'delete' message after selecting each one. But it still leaves a load of 1010 blanks with time stamps.

So 'delete' only deletes the text and not the entry! Its a mess.

My 14 day right to cancel may be invoked tomorrow morning at 09:00

That was me trying to type 'test'.

I got two characters in before the text entry field got swallowed and then the keyboard disappears.

(But that is not my problem so that is OK.)
