Great edition, concern about. . .

After receiving the Jan edition, it's a damn good read (not as good as Sept though)

but what really concerns me about the big manufacturers over the last couple of years is how quickly one item is defunct and upgraded. Is this the sign of the times? Are they really that desperate for brownie points?

The Phillips TV I had my eye on wasn`t even in the high street shops before the next model was being released!

Exactly my point - who really upgrades, big time, 3 or 4 times a year?

Maybe What Hi-Fi could have, on the forum, a manufactuer's Q & A section which would answer any concerns about an individuals favourite manufactuer or supplier?

I'm not really too concerned about having the latest and greatest, with TV's especially. If you make sure you tick the principle boxes you can then forget about the fierce battle the manufacturers have to fight and enjoy your purchase. I bought a 1080p TV last year and won't be changing it for a considerable time.

It's the same with hi-fi, except if you are an 'enthusiast' who actually enjoys blowing money and changing kit. When the new super Nait came out recently I didn't think for one second about getting it, not one second...
