Does anyone else use this and have issues getting on to the What Hifi forums?

Sometimes it just sits there trying to load and then fails; other times it's bob on!

Dan

I love it no problems . seconds to load the forums. And as regards IT well 1-10 --I,m a 5 .Dont know why you have Issues.

One thing to note at times my broadband is poor gb drop speed ect which has an effect.

Hm yeah, a fair number of chrome users on here - about 4% over all versions. Obviously well below IE and Firefox but still 'supported'. I doubt though that your issues are specifically to do with your browser, more likely to be broadband- or site-related.

I have the exact same issues with firefox at 'random' times (Sometimes flies, othertimes goes to a crawl even though OTHER sites load fine)

i think it's more whifi problems rather than anything else. i regularly get problems trying to use the filters on the reviews section.

I am resurrecting this thread as a friend has recommended Google Chrome. He said that it more efficient and reliable than IE. How have others found it?

over the past 2 days, I have experienced very slow interconnect ... sometimes hangs for a minute or 2 .... very frustrating when listening to spotify ...

Excellent in general. Firefox has been awful of late - some upgrades to it have really degraded its performance. Can't recommend Google Chrome highly enough however.

Thanks for the replies. I take it you can have Chrome and IE on the same PC and if one is not performing you can try the other. (I dont mean run both at the same time as I assume that would be too much to ask of the computer) Or are they likely to clash somehow that is best to choose one and stick with it?

one off:

Thanks for the info, but the tone of your response is not appreciated. What is obvious to you is not necessarily obvious to others.

such is life but the whole point of windows is that it is multitasking which is why you can run your browser word processor and mail programme at the same time

Damn right. I've been using Windows since 1990 and one off's post makes it sound like it's never crashed once in its puff. Damn thing falls over more times than a drunk on ice.

I used it for quite a while but have reverted back to Firefox as I found it unreliable on a few websites, especially ssl secure websites (ie internet banking and shopping).

One of the features that attracted me to Chrome was that each tab runs in it's own memory process, which means that if one website crashes then only that tab crashes, not the whole browser. However, this can be a negative if you have a lot of tabs open on a low spec computer as each new tab eats up additional memory.

Thanks margetti. I had a go with Chrome and your comment about lots of tabs on a low spec computer (like mine) makes sense as it was so slow. This issue is now being solved with a new laptop, yipee!

Good stuff! Got a new one a couple of months ago (thru an insurance claim) and it's a revelation - all those slow bandwidth issues had nothing to do with the broadband connection after all...

Chrome is a terrific browser, lightning quick and forward thinking. Hopefully in the next few years it will equal the market share Firefox has whilst IE is wrestled out of the market because of their illicit tactics and poor sophistication. Lordy, we can only strongly suggest.

How does Chrome work with regards to Google collecting data about you and your browsing habits? Is there a way to stop Google spying on you?

It has an 'incognito' mode. Don't know if that just stops cookies and browsing history on the host PC or further afield.

I use Chrome. Love it. Far better than IE7 IMO. Try opening both IE7 and Chrome and open the same web page in both. Chrome will load the page much faster, plus it is more enjoyable to use.

But back to the question. I used to have quite a few problems with this and other forums (especially when deleting text), however nothing like you have described. The faults I had seen seem to have been resolved now.
