Hifime. Decent DAC's.
Yes, that's the one I meant in another thread.

It was actually your comment that lead me to write the question. I'd seen a few people mention good cheap dacs before. I didn't want to hijack the thread or look like I was challengineg your comment, you know the way things can look in written form :)

Dragonfly Black is not far off your budget and Cambridges (formerly CA) original XA USB stick DAC can be found around 50 quid too on occasions though its now on V2.

Then there is the Raspery Pi option.

Not to worry :) so long we're not talking cables, actives or Apple.

I think it was Drummerman originally who got one for his CCA. Gasolin recently got one also.

There's a thriving sub £200 market. With Schiit, Audioquest, SMSL, Meridian and Hifime. There's also another dac I've heard of that's highly recommended on other forums DAC-01A. Don't ask me who makes it as I can pronounce it.

At £50 you usually get one input and nothing else though.

Yes, wires, fruity electronics and speakers that can sing by themselves bring out the Dr.Banner in everyone

That i was quite impressed with. It is the same as the maplin A14KF and one from Lindy. Plenty of reviews online and it is available much cheaper and well under £50 if you get it unbranded. It needs a USB cable and power supply added if you are using optical or coaxial. Alternatively maybe one of the Fiios
