Question Fyne Audio F500 SP (special production) or F501 / F501E? Very good bookshelf or standard floorspeakers?

I am faced with choosing stereo speakers for a very small room (about 12-13 square meters). I have preliminarily chosen the Fyne Audio F500SP and the Fyne Audio F501 and F501E. So I am faced with choosing between more expensive, more sophisticated bookshelf speakers and cheaper, but larger floorstanding speakers with full sound. What should I choose?

What HiFi writes that the F500 SP excels in several areas, but is not as good as the best rivals in this price range, losing out to competitors that are more sophisticated (which rivals, who is better?). If not the F500 SP, then maybe the F501 or F501E (apparently the latter has been slightly improved in terms of sound, although it has a poorer veneer and is slightly worse finished). What to choose?

The F500 SP is 50 percent more expensive as the F501 E and even slightly more expensive than the F501.

I have a Yamaha A-S 1000 amplifier (with a Topping D70 DAC), and I also have a class D: SABAJ A30A.

What do you recommend? Or maybe Fyne Audio is not the best choice and I can buy something more interesting for about £1,500?

Thanks and have a great weekend!

When it comes to speakers, relying on the recommendation of others can lead to trouble.
Have you heard the speakers you've mentioned Bob?
If not, there's every chance that you could prefer something else - not because Fyne could be bad (I wouldn't know), but you need to compare the sound of speakers for yourself.

Personally, in a small space, I've had a preference for front-ported, standmounters.
But what I've liked doesn't help you.
Best thing you could do is narrow down your choices by listening around - and then arrange a home loan if possible before buying.

You are 100% right.

I am asking for your opinions and feedback to find out if I am heading in the right direction 😉
Of course, I will ultimately have to listen to them in the store and make the decision myself.

Where are the speakers going to be? On stands, ideally sited? Tucked into a bookcase? Placed on a fashionable sideboard?

A big part of choosing size depends on the location. You’ve mentioned the area, but what are the dimensions? Almost square is a different challenge to long and narrow!

I own the original F501 floorstanders, they are hooked up to my Rega Elicit-R, the sound is wonderful.
The newer F501SP are substantialy more expensive. As the sound from the original F501 is so good, I find it hard to imagine that the sound from the F501SP can be that much better considering the large price difference. The original F501 is nicely finished in real wood veneer etc and looks the part, the SP has a high gloss piano finish on the wood, different feet and probably some changes to the crossover and maybe the drivers ?
Anyway, best to view and listen to each of these and let us know your findings ...

you don't need big speakers in a small room

Even my Whardale diamond 12.1i is big enough for my living room mabye 15 -20 square meters

Don't know what price you can get them for but since all of them have high sensitivity you can play more than loud enough

Here in denmark a pair sp500sp cost 14000 for a pair but 501 sp cost 16000 pr unit (32000kr) imho not worth getting the floorstand

Min goes down to 55hz flat and 50 hz is less than -10db (wiim room corrected) and it's got alot of bass, at 1 o'clcok the bass gets much louder like i have som kind of loudness on so it doesn get compressed at medium loud level (1 o'clock on my amp) and sounds great, often small speakers can't play bass at high levels and can sound more thin and bright

I would get a streamer from wiim to get room correction (a good mic is madatory) to get most out of the speakers in a small room + what ever is cheapest and i guess even with stands it's the 500sp

Room correction can make a big difference in the bass

I once heard the smallest 300 floorstand speakers an the are super dynamic and have had great bass but felt the highs was uneven but great for jazz, drum solos or rock do to the good bass and dynamic

Bass sounds great here
