Hi Guys

I need a bit of advice, i'm looking to get 2 new front speakers and possibly a centre.

I know i could get 3 of the B&W M-1's that would cover all 3 of these, and would cost me maybe about £360(ish)

what about the Q Acoustics 2020's and a Q Acoustics 2000 Centre.(for about £245)

I currently have a Sony STRDA2400ES for the surround sound and a couple of old B&W speakers as rear's which i don't want to change yet(cos i cant afford it!)

Don't want to spend a massive amount, probably about £350-£400 at most.

What do you think the better option would be ?

Kinda Drawn toward the Q Acoustics ones just now because of the cost.!

thanks

Kev

I did have a look at them but looked about 240 per speaker.

Nah, you could easily put together a pair of BR2 fronts (£200 for the pair) plus the matching centre (£150) and have change from your £400 budget for a pair of stands for the BR2s.

Should you? I'd say listen to the Q Acoustics models against the Bronzes if you can. But don't forget, long-term you'll want to change your B&W rears to match whichever make of front speakers you end up buying, so factor in the available rear-speaker options within each company's range as part of your thinking. Monitor Audio makes dedicated rears and in-ceiling designs as part of the Bronze range: currently, Q Acoustics doesn't.

Andy, thanks for that.

If you had to decide between the B&W M-1's or the BR2's what would your preference be.

i should be able to look at replacing the rears in about 6 months or so and understand where you are coming from regarding matching the speakers up.

Assuming they'll fit in your room and you can put them on speaker stands, it's BR2s all the way. The M-1s are excellent satellites, but they are just that - satellites. If you're building a system in stages, the BR2s will give you more sound for your pound with both music and movies. They'll also cope without a subwoofer, unlike the M-1s. Obviously, adding a subwoofer in due course is still a good idea!

Well you could get the 1010i's for £350 solving all your problems for £350, Q Acoustic 2000 is £495, or look at QA1030i at £139, 1050 at £199 and add centre. Wharfdale Diamonds 10.1 at £199 centre at £159. MA BR1 at £159, BR2 at £199 centre speaker at £135. Then Quad-lite at £160 and add centre. Any of these could go for rears and later you could if you have room and budget get some floorstanders for the fronts.

Thanks Guys.

think i'm going to go for the BR2's, just had a look at them all and they look the best bet for the money i have.

already have a sub in place as well but this will be changed when i replace the rears(probably with another 2 BR2's!)
