Freeview picture improvement

Following switch-over I've found my Freeview picture quality has improved immeasurably. We have also found the same in the shop. The previously ropey looking ITV channels actually look pretty good now and Freeview PQ looks better than Sky.

Anyone else found the same?

Interesting. If the SD broadcasts look so much better, that bodes well for Freeview HD ones.

hmmm ~ A few programs which usually look dire were now just mediocre

I 'suppose' thats a step in the right direction

I actually lost a few channels and now get intermittent reception on others. I suppose there were winners and losers with the alleged upgrade to service

Whilst the analogue picture was being broadcast from the same collocated site, the Freeview power level was about 5% of its intended level prior to switchover. This was because the digital signal interfered with the analogue at any greater output.

Now there isn't any analogue transmitted, digital power levels will be quickly ramped up over a period of a few weeks.

One of the benefits of the switchover is for households that have previously received maginal pictures, they should see a big improvement and there will be some which could not receive a terrestrial signal which may now be able to do so.
