Hi all, Is there an easy solution for connecting freeview in a second room ie:-Bedroom /Kitchen etc. Reason for me inquiring, is that a friend of mine lives in a Shelter Flat for the elderly and requires a television in the lounge & bedroom. The Housing association that owns the property
have recently installed a communal system, but they will not spend on a connection for her bedroom. Is it possible for her to connect a splitter on the main aerial point to feed 2 freeview
boxes ? I know that you can connect an aerial coax cable between the RF connections, but they would have to view the same programmes. Trouble is they use to have aerial points on the old system in the bedroom, her husband could watch one programme in the lounge, and she could watch another programme in the bedroom.
I will be very interested to read any information from the Television fraternity that could assist in solving this problem.
Awaiting any replies

Awaiting any replies Regards :- FROGIT It really depend's on the strength/quality of the signal being received from the communal system. If the signal is marginal/weak splitting it may cause picture blocking/sound pop's and cracks or worse no picture or sound at all.

If they have a decent signal then you may be able to split it with good result's, my advice though is if going down this route is not to use a cheap "Y" splitter such as this but a decent one like this as all splitter's will introduce losses but the later will have less impact on the signal. Also be sure to use decent cable such as webro WF100 which is meant for digital/satellite installations.and not just any cheap old co-ax as this can also affect the signal.

If the splitter doesn't work then you could consider using a 2way amp like this instead, but ideally should be used to make up for losses introduced by the cabling/splitting the feed rather than a solution to poor signal from the aerial in the first place.

Hi Dave is right,I did the same thing for my mum last year, fitted a aerial amp also just to be sure.Just follow Daves advice on cable and splitter. Good Luck

Hi,

You could try an ariel booster they are relatively cheap around £15 from argos or anywhere like that this plugs into the mains and then boosts the signal from your ariel, You have the wire from the ariel going into the booster then it can be split into other rooms you will have to run wires from this to the other two rooms. They normaly have as many as 2 outputs to as much as 8. Both tvs will have to have a freeview set top box they are quite cheap now i have seen them as cheap as £15.
