I understand that I will require new equipment to receive these transmissions once they become available.

As I intend to replace my TV and PVR in the next 12 months it would be helpful to know which manufacturers will be offering this feature, which I assume will involve replacing the current non-HD tuner and when such units are likely to become available.

Any information would be appreciated.

The only company that has officially committed to supporting Freeview HD at this stage is Panasonic, as you can read here. We don't expect the first Freeview HD-equipped TVs or set-top boxes to appear until Christmas 2009.

You would of thought that if Freeview HD is going to be available to certain areas by the end of this year we will also see some new tv`s out ready for it.

I suppose the HD set top box will come out first.

I have been putting off buying a new 32" LCD, replacing my 21" CRT, until a HD Freeview set becomes available !
