You still don't get it do you. It doesn't matter what you do with the glass, doing away with the strong A-pillars, will seriously compromise the integrity of the passenger safety cell.

I'm done with this thread...
Could we all be done with this one track thread? I'm getting to the stage where I'm looking forward to the next cable thread.

Also, it is certainly possible that the car’s driver side 180° one piece windscreens are manufactured with the ZEISS Drive Safe technology and other optical technologies like full 100% UV protection. So, night driving could become a breeze without having to worry about oncoming headlights and during the day extra clear visibility with the UV coatings.😊
Of course it's possible, but it would mean having to reinforce the roof structure to such an extent* that the vehicle would be massively more heavy - just to satisfy you. You might be safer from UV, but almost all UV is filtered out by ordinary glass anyway.

*Convertible cars are, perhaps counterintuitively, heavier than their fixed roof cousins - which is because they need so much structural reinforcement if their rigidity isn't to be too compromised. And the importance of the A-pillar is really shown here as it's the structure most beefed up, and most responsible for ensuring that if a convertible overturns, the occupants aren't squished.

What you are asking for here is, and I know I am repeating myself here, a Very Bad Idea. Just tell me that you don't work for a car company, please...

EDIT - actually, if you do please say which one, as I shall assiduously avoid passengering in one.

Only this time I probably must have had a different type of juice like a orange juice with fibres in it.🤣😆

If there is a convertible and another fixed roof then there’s a 180° windscreen for sure in the making. ☺️

There isn’t any need for reinforcements on the roof or anything, as there will be complete new structure design from ground up to fit the 180° windscreen.

No, I don’t work in the automotive sector. I’m currently unemployed and spend time commenting on forums like on WhatHiFi. 😊

One piece full 180° driver side glass panel with headlights filter technology and the roomiest cabin for rear seat passengers to be able to stretch their legs knee straight towards the front seat with ease freely while seated in a standard 5 seat saloon car are the future, really! 😊

So how much would one of those fancy ZEISS windscreens cost to replace when you get a little crack in it?
The whole 180° ZEISS glass panel gets replaced for the full cost with all the optical technologies like improved low light performance in filtering headlights. There’s very less chances that things, like cracks, could happen.

Also, the car will be more vehicle centric than the current road centric driving system. Which focuses more on road and traffic systems than the individual’s driving patterns.
With a 180° windscreen the driver will be able to drive the vehicle in a completely different way with no collision incidents insight.
Also, nobody collides or cause accidents while walking or running with fellow walkers and runners.
It will be the same with driving 180° windscreen vehicles on roads.

Increased visibility won't help accident statistics - you can't change the driving patterns of idiots.
Because people got to drive within boundaries of the closed cabins unlike pilots where planes are autonomous.
See a car driver like a baby in it’s covered mobile cradle, the baby’s going to cry all the time. Wouldn’t it? 🤣😆

He posted yesterday that he's currently unemployed and spends much of his time posting on forums , (though he appears to have edited that now, as he seems to have a habit of doing)

Which probably explains a lot!

If only he put as much energy into job hunting as chasing unicorns....

Yes, absolutely, I am keen on working in the UK, obviously! 🙂
But now I’m in India and so I’ll look for jobs when I’m in the UK and won’t be applying for a job or a VISA from India to travel to the UK.

Unbreakable 180° glass manufacturing with ZEISS drive safe technology and hawk attack proof panels for the car’s windscreen, isn’t distant anymore from becoming a reality! 🙂
It could easily withstand all types of animal road kills too, including deliberate bull horn attacks on humans.

I am so glad I live in the UK. The only thing we need to worry about is wiping off the white gunge from your car's windscreen after the crows have moved off from the trees above.

That’s best to deal with a full car wash inside out in under 10 mins fully automated. 🙂

Also, nobody’s going to point guns at passing vehicles.
So, a full 180° windscreen to withstand all sorts of external impacts is a great idea. 😊

OK, please stop saying the same thing over an dover again. You believe it, and no-one else does. Best agree to differ.

Those are just my insights, really!

I don’t when or who will implement it, as I’m in India now.

I’m just eagerly waiting when such things become a reality, soon! 😊🙂
