Freesat HD and PS3 Play TV recording

I've got a Sony 32" LCD TV with a Humax Foxsat HD satellitie reciever and am very happy with the set-up so far. I'm not considering a PS3 as i understand with the Play TV box i will be able to record programmes as per a normal HD recorder. My only concern is whether the Play TV will let you record from another source such as my Humax or is it just able to record through the Play TV signal?

As far as I know you need a PS3 to use Play TV as this is where the programmes are recorded to. Also, you will not be able to record an external source such as your Foxsat receiver. Sounds to me like you should be looking at a DVD-R (DVD/HDD recorder) to cover all your requirements.
