Further to a previous post - I have been told by my local retailer that the new THPX80 that I am buying comes with a 5 year warranty from Panasonic. This means to me that there is no need for anyone to ever buy an extended warranty on this set??

I have emailed Panasonic to see if this is the case but so far, no reply.

Anyone out there come accross this before?

Thanks,

Is there any way of getting this Free Panasonic 5 year Warranty online. If I wanted to buy a panasonic online you would have thought the company (Panasonic) would be greatful for the buisness, its still their product I'm buying. Whats good for the goose........

This is the way that I am doing it - i will have to update you if it works.

Sound and Vision will sell the set through its Bolton store for the same price as the on the internet. They have them in stock and you are able to collect from them which avoids the delivery charge. I do not know if Sound and Vision will qualify for the 'face to face' offer that Panasonic have put in place but I can not see why they wouldnt?

The next option is to then pricematch with JL (everyone on this forum has said good things about them) - JL then offer the 5 year warranty as standard.

To be honest, I dont mind too much who I use as both companies seem to offer a good service - I am just not sure if it will ultimately be possible to pick up the set at the cheapest price with the 5 year warranty - I will keep you posted if it can be done

Thanks

JL have come back to me and said that they will price match but they have also said that there is a £65 delivery charge??

Strange as I though JL delivered FOC.

I have emailed them to see what the situation is but so far, no response - will keep you informed

cheers

I think JL charge whatever delivery charge you would have had to pay at the pricematching store. i.e. they price match the product AND the delivery.

JL have price matched and also included a £65 delivery charge - I suppose that I wouldnt have to pay it if I went to collect it but I am not sure if it is worth the hassle.

I figure that £760 for the THPX80 is pretty good with a 5 year warranty?

Thanks,

Would JL price match panasonics own website, as my wife gets 20% discount through her work. This would mean the 37" PX80 would come in at 674.19 delivered.
Then I wonder about about the 5 year warranty, would they honour that also.

The Panasonic shop will give you the 5 year Warranty now if you want it, as told buy the manager at Stafford branch instead of waiting till May 1st. Just ask!
